14U and we keep offensive and defensive stats and have been since 12U. Yes, stats are shared with the girls.
How are they going to know what needs work if they don't know their strengths and weeknesses?
No. I have found that they just cause headaches. There are too many ways to score hits and errors.
For example, a DD hits a ground ball to SS that goes through her legs. It was easily catchable. It rolls to the fence. Technically, that is a hit - but would have been an out 9 times out of 10, and it could have resulted in a double play. But in mom and dad's eyes DD just hit a HR. They don't want to hear any different.
