I agree. DD also works with a trainer at our gym. If you go the trainer route make sure you interview them. They need to know that your DD is a catcher so that they can tailor the workout to her...
If your DD has done the Wasserman catcher workout...
Is this too much in addition to weekly team winter workouts? Also, do you think a 12 yr. old can understand and do these exercises without help? I was hoping to find a sample workout online to see what the workouts are like before buying, but no luck! Thanks!!
What I did with my DD when she was 12. I showed her proper form pushups, first from the knees then as she got stronger she did regular pushups. Squats, crunches, flutter kicks, calf raises (use the bottom step and hold on to the railing), wall sits, jump squats and burpees. Basically we only did body weight exercises for the first year and just increased sets and reps as she got stronger. she did these every other day. At 13 we added very light weight dumbells, some leg presses and some back exercises. At 14 she began lifting with machines and bars 3 days a week along with cardio.
I haven't seen the Wasserman catcher workout so I can't really comment but I would guess that if you need help it's probably a really good and cost effective place to start.
