Throw the dang ball, I do not care where. Throw it into the parking lot if you want.

Some reason our Cs have got into the habit of fake throwing and walking a runner back to her base ALL the time. They are 1 foot of the bag most the times.

One of my pet peeves as well. If the catcher and pitcher would just get in the rhythm of catchers catches the ball then immediately throw the ball with pace right back at the P then all the dancing around on the base would just stop because runner must immediately go back or forward.

Not politically correct, but we saw a catcher that reminded us of a silverback with all the posturing she did charging out from behind the plate after every pitch with her arm cocked. Not once did she throw the ball.

That always looks so tiring to me, catchers in all their gear chasing girls all over the field. It's gotta use a lot of energy with all that padding on.

DD is a catcher. She hates that too. At 10U she used to do that but realized for herself ot was pointless after a coulle games. Never did it again. But she will throw a girl out - and does regularly of the runner takes a big lead.

One of the other catchers on the team never even looks at the runners on 3rd and it has bit us in the butt on numerous occasions. A couple weeks ago there was a runner with a "lead" probably 12 feet from our catcher. She just threw the ball back to the pitcher without looking and the rumner just jogged in and scored. Guess what - next play - she did the exact same thing. In her cae I think I wouldn't mind seeing her try to run a runner back. At least we know she knows there are runners on.

This is a great example of how its done. The catcher should appear to ignore the runner, until it is showtime. :)

I tell my catchers that if their arm comes up they better throw the ball.

A critical skill set on the field, your field general. All to familiar, under-coached relative to the pitching staff.

Riseball, I'm sure you've seen a lifetime of this in your journey.

Would be a great complimentary to any future James & Rick DF pitching clinics. We had a minimum of 15 catchers participate, who would have been sponges to any level of skills training.

LETS THROW RUNNERS OUT !!!

(Fake pump throw is not scary)
just saying even giant godzilla standing there holding the ball
is not scary.

* The defense not being ready is
no excuse either.
