She is having difficulty seeing Pop ups over her head or behind her. Which catchers helmets have the best visibility? I've read on this discussion board, she should not take it off. She is a small 8 and will be going up to 10u in fall or next spring. I'm not sure if she will play catcher but I want to give her the opportunity to learn the position because she likes catching. Nana's spending papa's money on softball granddaughter !

From what I have seen, visibility doesn't vary a lot between brands, and certainly not enough to suddenly make a huge difference in her ability to find balls out of her immediate range of vision. I would suggest going with the one she likes the feel of best.

Based on the fact that she's still very young, I'd guess that the biggest issue is simply playing experience. Lots of drill reps with turning, finding, and catching pop-ups should be part of any catcher's training program. One little detail to include in the drill is to pivot away from the batter (for example - RH batter, turn to the right). Foul balls tend to be on the front side of the batter's body.

Make sure the helmet is fitted correctly and all the straps tightened sufficiently. This can make a big difference in how the helmet sits on the head

If you're willing to spend a little of Papa's money and haven't bought a catching set yet, I would look at the youth All-Star set on Amazon. It's reasonably priced and a great starter set that won't break the bank. Here's a link if you're interested Amazon.com: All Star Player's Series Complete Baseball Catcher's Gear Set 9-12: Sports & Outdoors

If you're just looking for a helmet, anything that is the new hockey style mask should work as long as it fits well and is comfortable. The best thing you can do for DGD is practice catching pop-ups with the mask on and have her get used to it no matter which brand you buy.
