DD loves her Mako set....she is going on her second set now...it fits close and offers great protection. Make sure you get the Fastpitch set and not the baseball one. The fastpitch set was designed and tested by Jen Schroder-former college catcher. But, as others have said it's best to let your DD try it on and see which feels/works best. We had Mizuno before the Easton Mako set-no comparison in the two for DD. The mako set is much lighter and way less bulky than the Mizuno.

Ok, we went all Wilson Promotion, Legs, Chest and Helmet. After using the set for a season, DD HATES the legs. The upper most outer shell is made of a lightweight hard cloth like material. Every time DD would kick over to block a pitch the cloth like material would cling and catch and twist her pads to the side, leaving her knees skinned. We got them because they fit great, super lightweight and breathable with great inner padding, but once she wore them in practices and games it quickly became a different story. So we changed her legs only and the next best set was the Mako leg. So now DD has Promotion Helmet Shock 2.0 or something, Promotion Chest protector and Easton Mako Legs, all in royal blue. Hope this helped

My dd has the Promotion gear and the gear is in its fourth year. She has not experienced the leg guard issue Bchbum54's dd has. As a matter of fact, she loves every piece of the gear. Now that she is in college she was fitted with and ordered LS gear. Bats, gloves, mitts, gear, and batting gloves are all LS with her college. She does not like the way the gear fits and feels. She does not like the catchers mitt and 1B mitt ordered for her, but she knows she has to use them. She does like the bat and the batting gloves. Maybe she'll like the rest of the stuff when it's broken in. I pray she keeps an open mind.

Gear tends to be personal. Find places where she can put them on and let her make a concious decision.

This is interesting because the one thing I don't like about the ProMotion legs is that cloth covering...not because it creates issues (for my daughters it does not) but because it gets dirty and is impossible to clean. I hate dirty gear! :D

Seriously though, on my daughters' gear that piece sits up on the lower thigh above the knee and rarely hits the ground when blocking. We have not had and problems with them clinging or catching at all.

All Star 7 Series have been mines choice. She orders the men's not the women's. She is tall and thin, fits her the best. Spend the money on the top end helmet, much lighter. She goes through a set of gear every 2 years, but plays probably 180- 200 games per year. Glad that college buys them now...

I may have exaggerated a bit. It doesn't happen "every" time but after a couple consecutive blocks her leg gaurds would slide down enough where it would eventually catch. More prevalent during repeated blocks during her catchers lessons. She would continously have to remind herself to readjust her leg gaurds after every other block. But eventually by the end of practice or a game she would gripe about the discomfort which led me to spend another $65 (amazon) on a different set of legs only after 1 season.

Right Here For Now
DD had the Mako set. She loved the fit but not it's longevity. The leg-guard knee padding wore out in under 6 months. I ordered a second pair and the same thing happened. Also, the helmet padding started breaking down and falling out at the end of a years time. Then we went to the Wilson Promotion leg guards and the Wilson Shock 2.0 helmet. The padding was excellent and they were comfortable but wouldn't stay in place and kept twisting. The helmet offers outstanding fit and protection. So now DD has the Wilson helmet, the Mako chest protector and All-Star leg guards.
