Please do not allow your DDs to watch or model themselves after the Red Sox catchers. Hannigan and Swihart both do a poor job of receiving and blocking because of poor technique. I understand Swihart is a recent convert to the position, but still..... I almost can't watch their games and keep getting yelled at by DW for yelling at the TV.

But seriously I can't say I've noticed. I could be mistaken but I think Hanigan was on an earlier thread where he caught a foul tipped ball to his knuckles because he leaves his throwing hand out in the open during the pitch. If that's the same catcher from that thread it's happened multiple times in his career.

I heard the announcers the other day point out that the catcher (can't remember who but it was against the Orioles) didn't block balls and tried to "glove" everything which was "very costly" at times...
I've also seen several blocks with one hand while the throwing hand was still held behind the leg...anyone else notice that with any of the catchers?

I've seen more FP girls with good mechanics than I have MLB catchers!
