My 10yo DD is currently using a Mizuno GXS92, but I can see that it will probably run out its usable life in the not-to-distant future. We probably won't go Miz again, but I haven't ruled it out completely. We've tried a Vinci JCV-22, but it proved to be a no-go with her (I've discussed this elsewhere), so Vinci is out of the running. I've liked what I've seen of the All-Star CMW-3000, but the jury is still out until my DD's teammate gets hers fully broken in, and my DD can give it a real test of compatibility.

I'm interested to hear how some of the others (Worth, Akadema, LS...??) stack up for hand protection, quality, durability, etc.

Love the Mizuno GXS92 - but my DD is starting to really bring it as a pitcher and even with a extra inside glove it is starting to hurt catching her practices. At your DD's age, for the price + a xProtect glove you could probably buy one more GXS92 and postpone the $300 glove decision for another 2 years or so.

If the Vinci is out I do like the Nokona - but for the price it really is the 'last' glove you should ever need to buy so she better want to be a catcher ;-)

Akadema is a nice transition glove and the quality of their product is excellent. It really isn't a Nokona but it is a solid glove for the price. My DD loves their gloves for the field, but she is no catcher so I can't say she had tried their mitts.

Check out the Wilson A600 or the Wilson Onyx. That should hold her over until she needs a serious glove at 14U.

My DD catches a couple of pretty serious fireball pitchers (45-50mph), and she definitely gets stung every game using the Miz 92. She wears an EvoShield thumb protector, but the feel of an extra glove inside her mitt is uncomfortable for her.

She is committed to being a catcher, and is putting in the hard work to earn decent gear from me. I'm not ready to go $200+, but the $100-150 range is not out of the question.

Thank for the tip on the Nokona. It wasn't really on my radar (not sure why).

Hmm...The Onyx looks promising. From what I've seen of the A600, I don't think it's a step up from the Miz 92.

The A600 is about on par with your dd's Mizuno. I couldn't tell in your original post if you wanted to replace or upgrade.

Nokona is notorious for lack of padding.
IIRC Vinci's first C mitt was based on the Nokona style, but with substantial padding, maybe some other improvements.

Not necessarily a "forever" mitt, but definitely something better.

Does anyone have experience with the Worth Liberty?

In general, if she is committed to playing catcher, which it sounds like she is, buy her the best glove you can. Heck, if she was a pitcher you would be spending at least $120 a month on pitching lessons!
