My DD is a HS Freshman and is in need of a new catchers mitt. What do you guys recommend? Best padding? Durability? Price? Size? Thanks in advance for the info

I have yet to see a better internally padded mitt than the Vinci JCV-VM. We had a catcher go through 3 different mitts catching a notoriously hard throwing H/S senior pitcher and would come away with red, sore hands. We let her try out a Vinci with this pitcher and she did not even need a batting glove or other padded glove. She now swears by the Vinci. Great quality leather too. Available in a 33" Dual post H web and a 34" closed web. Colors include all black, tan and black, red white and black, Bordeaux Black and White, or custom build your own. Check them out at Vinci.com

Thanks Chaz. My DD has a Mizuno GSX92 today, which is a great off the shelf mitt BTW, but will be looking for a new one sometime next year. I hear a lot of good things about Vinci.I found a couple local authorized dealers in our area on their website. Will check them out.

My kid just switched from the gsx92 to a vinci vm last summer. It took a month of me breaking in the vinci before she would use it.

Late edit:
She really likes it now.

The Vinci takes a little longer to break in, but I think it's worth it... Easton and Mizuno are pretty popular with the older catchers I work with. (And they are good gloves to be sure) Typically you will see them wear a batting glove or padded inner glove with these brands as the palm padding isn't as protective as we see with Vinci. We just had one of our H/S juniors compete at a tournament down in Texas and her Easton started coming apart at the seams just before she left. I let her borrow my 34" demo mitt that I use for my catching lessons. She liked it s well that I won't be getting it back! :)

CS22, Forgive me if I have your thread. (Not intentional) There are many very good gloves out there for H/S age catchers. In my opinion, Vinci is at the top of the list for quality and value. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you and your catcher.

My 18U DD uses the Vinci JCV-VM and loves it. The padding is top notch for sure. The 12U just moved from a Worth Liberty to a Nokona Buffalo Combo and the Nokona's padding isn't comparable to the Vinci (though it is a beautifully constructed mitt for sure).

The Vinci took a good three months to break in, but there has been no noticeable degradation in the padding at all in the 15 months (probably 200 games and practices) it has been used in. I would have gotten the same glove for my 12U but her heart was set on the Nokona.
