My DD started 6th grade this year. She has advanced math and was placed in a seventh grade class besides advanced math. We played a fall ball schedule with 2-3 weeknight practices plus pitching outside of those practices. 7 classes total 5 A's and 2 A- on her report card.

It makes a difference. To not be crossed off any list because of grades is priceless. Tell her to keep up the good work.

Congratulations! Good grades will come in handy whether or not your DD decides to play college softball!

It's been MANY moons since I was applying for colleges, but do they even look at 6th grade? Back in the day, it started at 9th. Not a knock to the OP at all. Getting A's across the board is a great feat. Doing so while playing SB is even more commendable. Pitching practices, too? Can't ask for better.

All Over I Coach TB
Congrats to her. Everyone needs to remember. We play TB to get to college. To get an education. Softball is a means to offset the cost of getting a degree. Grade are REALLY IMPORTANT at the D2 and D3 levels to get all of that academic $$$$$$$.

Right Here For Now
Congrats to your DD NV! I've been to many coaches college recruiting clinics and even the D1 college coaches stress the importance of grades. They say even 1/100 of a point in the cumulative GPA can determine which girl they will take if given equal skills. They all say that they would take the girl with the 3.5 GPA over the girl with the 3.49 GPA if all things were equal since they can get more academic money for the 3.5 which doesn't count against their athletic scholarships thus being able to offer this particular girl a better deal and having a better chance of recruiting her. Even if your DD doesn't want to play in college, the better her GPA, the better the academic money. Either way, it sounds as if your DD is well on her way to success. Tell her to keep up the great work!
