My shameless brag is a bittersweet moment. My daughter played her last high school game a few weeks ago. Because she is not playing travel ball this summer or playing in college, her softball career is essentially over. She had a wonderful senior year. She was voted the league MVP as a shortstop. This is the 1st time that a pitcher did not take this award home in long time. Also, she was recently selected as a Pennsylvania Coaches first team All-State Shortstop. She compiled 110 hits and scored 108 runs during her high school career and batted over 460. In her senior year she batted .574 with a .651 OBP and only made 3 errors in a 22 game season. She was the starting shortstop for 4 years and her team that won 3 league titles and 4 straight district titles. Our house now seems empty without softball. She is my favorite athlete and after her last game I shouted, so everyone would hear me, that she was my hero. She ran off of the field gave me a big hug and we both cried our eyes out. Three days later, she asked me to have a catch and take her to the batting cages. This I will never forget.
