thanks for this thread.
DD worked on keeping that stride leg LOW like how Rachel G does it. DD's stride leg used to go hip-high and mess up her timing. DD pivot leg (righthy) still has the tendency to drag like an anchor, but we're getting to that as well.
DD in today's practice just by...
how far are they trying to stride out to? while there's nothing wrong with striding to 8' it's not always best for every pitcher. over striding can mess up the timing.
it makes a LOT of sense! DD has been working on fixing her over-striding and leaving that stride leg up and dragging the drive/pivot leg.
Rachel's very low stride leg height actually helps a lot with timing and hence much better landing/posture/ == better pitch.
the arm needs to be correctly 'bent' (about 10 o'clock) at heel plant. not straight and locked out. with palm UP, the forearm gets loaded and ready to whip/brush.
DD gets this feeling of something transferring from the upper arm to the forearm (blood rush?) when she does this right and yes...
I've always told DD to have a strong leg drive out, but to relax the arm circle and accelerate only upon heel plant. whenever DD goes crazy with her arm circle, bad things happen. timing problems.
can you explain this a bit more? why move to the front? DD's team will be facing a known riseballer next week and they have not been successful in the past.
TIA!
i was watching the OK vs Wichita game and took notice of Paige's stride to both sides.
Java's notes indicate that it is beneficial to stride to the left (RHP) of your drive line/foot.
stride left
stride right
both pitches seem to end on the outside (RH).
can someone explain why this...
as what yogi would say
hasn't this comparison between KB and BB been discussed to death before? as what yogi would say, "It's like dejavu all over again".
the commentators were talking about carlson's stride outside the box, but that quickly faded. maybe they were told to hush shus?
are the UMPS told to not call IP's when it's at team's home field?
it should be interesting to see Florida's next few away games if IP's will get called. Auburn's pitcher striding outside of the pitching "box" hasn't been called for IP's yet. hmmm...
way to go, D! for my DD, i'll leave that up to her if she wants to talk to the coach or not. at the very least, she is playing, just not pitching. oh, well. we'll see.
good luck.
yep. all of a sudden, the umps see and CALLs the IP. i really wonder what triggered this. was it coach mike white's comment from last year?
it should be interesting to see if this trend continues throughout the season.
DD's a junior and experiencing a similar scenario. their HS team is blessed (or cursed) with several pitchers. This season, she's played 3B and outfield but has made it clear to coach that she WANTS to pitch.
i kinda understood this when DD was a sophomore as the juniors and seniors take higher...
