The shoulder was loose when I dropped her off at school, it dislocated after the first week of practice. She's never had it happen before. (I wondered if it was the 6 hour practices but there was no specific activity that caused it) The back injury happened during a practice game. Being away...
Just to understand, your comment that "it doesn't pass the smell test" you don't believe this is true? Sorry it doesn't sound right to you but it's the truth. Players are injured in a game and sent back on the field all the time not sure why you think it's not happening here.
I did have a long discussion with my DD and her sports medicine doctor before posting anything here. I was posting here to vent and see what complete strangers who are equally obsessed with SB might think. My friends don't have kids in sports or commit to anything. They don't understand what...
DD dislocated her shoulder, she was cleared by the team trainer to play but not do anything that causes pain-she's a catcher, dislocated her receiving arm. She had 2 daysoff a week and continied to do PT for her arm.
4 weeks later DD suffers a spinal injury. Out for two weeks, she could barley...
Firs year 14u coaches told the parents "we are no longer going to hold back until all player catch up to the level of our 5 core (aka their DD's)." All new parents after 4 months and last payment made were individually told if your kid can't hack it, quit. Not all coaches focus on developing...
UglySport-it won't aleays be an easy road, for you or your DD, but use the time to enjoy time together. Road trips, travel, driving umpteen hours a week, etc. Build her up, let the coach do the coaching.
My DD now plays D3, but that wasn't always the plan. She went from little league at age...
I would seriously dig into the school and softball program reviews.
Class size, instructor availability (my DD missed class and her phone rang at 8:40am-the instructor was asking her whereabouts!), instructor engagement, campus size, etc.
Softball-hours of practice, W/L records, coach fit...
When she is older and if she does an overnight camp with players, her conduct at that time is similar to a job interview. The players are deciding if this is someone they want on their team-did the player take instruction well, did the player implement the changes, how was her attitude. Off the...
Hope it works out for the original team members. Some coaches may want parent input, but usually that occurs as a team discussion first. Since that didn't happen, likely the coach wasn't looking for input and your DD could be on the outs. Depends in your relationship so tread carefully...
Can anyone confirm the 4 years of eligibility, if a bachelors is obtained in two? College courses in high school make this a possibility, wonder what hoops might be required.
DD's friend plays D1, even as a non-starter she was forced to change her major from science to a more manageable one.
Another gal we know is now on her third college (small D2, juco, now another D2) for softball. She's not there for the education, and will attend where she can guarantee playing...
At DIII, aren't you really there for the education first? I am just asking, no insult intended. This was the conversation my DD and I had during her search.
Sounds like every little league game below age 12. I LOVE time limits!
Softball is a small world, leaving team now may bite you in a few years. Changing teams can be hard for girls, especially if another player loses time because your DD joined later. Might be better to pick up with this team...
DD held her own, she thought she would totally suck. She has been critiqued at every aspect of her game, and while it elevates her game, it was/is mentally challenging. The scrimmage allowed to her to see how she compares offensive and defensively. She received some praise, some...
