We've now had 4 outdoor practices since the season began March 11th. Played our 6th game last night...all of them on the road. Our home opener was supposed to be last Tuesday, but was moved to the other team's location because we got 12" of snow a few days prior. Then our home opener was...

We've been practicing since March 11th. We've only had two outdoor practices. Our season opener was a double-header this past Friday playing teams from the Billings area, who have been outdoors from day 1. Our third game is here in a few hours, still only having two outdoor practices. MHSA...

How does that work? Does your season continue on after school is out for the summer? I wish Montana would consider that, but not sure if there'd be enough participation to do so. The girls who love softball would already be entering travel season, and those who play for something to do would...

Glendive is one of the Class A schools we do a home and home with. I love when we get to play on Dawson CC's field. Not so much playing on Glendive's rec fields. Spent many a day on that lake, and hope to spend many more! I'm about 20 miles of there.

All the teams in the conference meet at one complex (we host it every two out of three yrs, the third yr we host the conference tourney). With...

Yep, as a guy who grew up in east TX where there was a school our size every 25 miles, it was eye opening. Our rivals back home were 5 and 20 miles away. Here they are 50 and 70 miles away. Unfortunately, they dont field softball teams. Where were you when in MT?

    Hitting fly balls

If your program has the money, invest in one of these - Our outfielders can get three times the number of reps in, plus its much easier to place those "tweeners" between the IF and OF and get everyone communicating on fly balls. That initial investment is a lot, though ($2500).

Thanks! I've lurked here for awhile. I'm in the East, and you aren't kidding about the long bus rides. We're Class B and our closest conference opponent is 260 miles away. We have a handful of Class A teams that are a bit more manageable. They're "only" 125 to 200 miles away. :D

In Montana, we start a week from Monday (the 11th). We have already had our pre-season meetings and it looks like we'll have 24 players. Not bad for a HS enrollment of only 228. Much better than the 11 or 12 player rosters we had when I first started. Only about 11 (possibly 12 by...
