Forgot which game I was watching on espn over the weekend but runner on 2b no out. Ball hit to SS who throws to 3b and gets the girl running across. All they could do was praise the defense for a heads up play but nobody was willing to criticize the runner for a terrible base running mistake...
The prooblem is that these coaches just move on to another school because they "resigned" and didn't get fired. And their old schools won't bad mouth them for fear of a lawsuit so these coaches just move on from school to school.
If a team informs the umpire of a substitution but the umpire does not inform the opposing team is it a legal substitution? Is the game protestable if the ump allows the substitution?
I agree with what Sluggers said. What is the big picture? We actually moved our dd from private to public. She was in a high quality private school for six years and we felt we got our money's worth but the hs was bigger and had more class offerings including more AP. So we saved many bucks...
There is just no reason for this on a 12U B team. Certainly going into next year you should look for a new organization where your DD will play and grow unless of course you want or need to leave earlier. Not sure where you are in the NE but feel free to send me a message and maybe I can offer...
I'll let the regulars chime in but for me it's inexcusable and you need to find a team once this is over where she will get at bats and have the opportunity to grow. I assume you paid up for the season? You need to talk to the dad since you have access to him.
We had a coach once who liked to have the runner on 1b steal if he had the leadoff batter up with two strikes and two outs. Worst case - leadoff starts the next inning with new at bat. Best case - runner on 2b.
I agree with a lot of the above. One dd out of D3 - another currently playing. It is true that for some D3 (MIT for example) you need to get in the school based on academics alone but for many NESCAC and similar, being recruited for softball can help you get into the school even though you may...
We have a coach who would never bunt particularly in showcases unless it was an elimination game and it was necessary. Of course, slappers can do what they want but his point was that coaches are not coming to see girls bunt.
I had a different philosophy. I didn't want my daughters to suffer the stress of taking the tests multiple times. I got them both tutors, told them both that the goal is to take the test one time so put in your very best effort. Had them take it the August before Junior year during a time...
I say Showcases. First off you are paying for that anyway whereas Camps are additional cost. Secondly, you have exposure to more coaches at one time. Of course, you need to do your homework and email, email and email coaches or it's a waste of time.
