Base runner on first base no outs. Batter bunts, pops up near first base but the ball falls fair. The base runner was hanging out by first base expecting the catch... But then takes of for second. First base fields the ball and makes an attempt on the batter going to first base (first base...
After a particularly tough loss where a dropped fly ball allowed the game winning run to score, some of the players were saying that the outfielder "lost the game" for them. I sat the girls down and explained that each and every one of the girls could very easily find one thing they could have...
We are in the next city over (Naperville, IL). I would say we were down slightly this year. I believe there were about 65-70 girls this year where there were 80+ last year.
School has about 4100 students. Went from four teams last year (V, JV and 2 Freshman teams) to three teams. Budget...
My response is where is she supposed to find someplace else to play? In my area the Catholic league is really the only place to play. Ours lets girls play, but if they didn't, where would she be able to go?
Also, I thought we (USA) were past the "their game, their rules" stage. Some rules...
Similar thing in our area. We have entire teams leaving an organization and moving to a different organization. While they share the same jerseys they are not truly one organization. Tryouts are usually handled individually, etc. There are some benefits provided by the master organization...
I have used Game Changer for several years and I like it a lot. I have never used the other application. I have an iPad with a 4G connection and parents that can't make a game can watch or follow along remotely from their ipad or computer.
GC stores everything online for you so it is backed...
My DD's high school has a code of conduct that includes random drug testing for all athletes. This includes Pot as well as steroids, etc. If you test positive you are dismissed from the team, etc.
Each year the head coach has a talk with the players explaining that they never know when they...
If she has been working as hard as you say and she has picked up speed, my bet is simply the release point. Extra speed probably means a faster arm circle and she is probably just holding on a little too long. As the earlier poster mentioned, trying to aim lower should help with the release...
DD's high school had four slappers in a row (9-1-2-3) in the batting order. Kept them that way all season. All season it seemed like it was four outs in a row... mostly routine 4-3 put outs. (groan)
Personally I find nothing worse than someone that "claims" to be a great slapper and in...
I am in no way an advocate of the "forced" use of masks and agree with many that it is the player's and parent's choice to use whatever protection they want.
However, DD was at a D1 camp last weekend. One of the D1 players told the girls attending the camp, that if they wore a mask at the camp...
We have done "Texas Hold'em Power Tournaments" in conjunction with our local V.F.W. I imagine it will vary depending upon the laws in your town/state, but we usually have a decent turn out of parents as well as V.F.W. regulars participate.
Entry is usually something like $100 per person and...
Ummm.. Ok..
Somewhere this thread took a left turn and I'm not sure where it is heading.
Perhaps someday you can explain exactly why you had that clip saved. :)
I believe this is the same girl that is in the video. The location is the same. I also believe the video with the stool was from an older site called FastpitchTraining.com. The coach was Mark Mulvaney who now runs fastpitchscoutingreport.com
Fastpitch Scouting Report - Chaley Brickey - 2012...
If I remember right from the past threads the stool was just a visual aide for the video to show that they wanted the batters backside to slide forward (linearly) during the stretch/stride. Something like that.
Well as BretMan said "If the ball touched the ground at any point before being secured by the catcher, then it is not a catch! If it's not a catch, then you can't possibly have a caught third strike"
The catcher has to "catch" the ball on the third strike for the out to count on the strike...
Yes but in the original post the ball was described as landing just past first base and then rolling into foul territory. That would make it a fair ball (since it made it past first base in fair territory) and thus the "Infield fly if fair" would be in play and the runner would be out... right?
Just a quick update. Went out to the cages for the first time in a few weeks. DD has had 2 weeks off from softball. We spent a lot of time talking about all the great advice that was provided in this thread. The went at it.
Spent a good amount of time working the high tee. Stationary...
I wanted to thank everyone who responded to this thread. I have found the responses and information provided to be very informative. It is great to be part of this community where even if there are different opinions or methods everyone is willing to share and discuss.
Thanks to everyone.
She still has it... the video I put up in the yellow shirt was just not a good day. I went looking for a video with a high pitch and found the supplied video. Obviously not her best work... but I guess that is what I get when I go looking for a bad swing. I found a whole bunch of them. :)...
