Hate to do it, but I have another scoring question.

ITB, runner on second gets sac bunted to 3rd base. Sac fly brings the run home. Is this an earned run? Unearned run? My daughter gave one of these up in the 8th inning of a 0-0 ball game last summer. We lost 1-0, it was bad enough for her to take the loss, just wondering if she gave up an...

Pitching speeds at the TCS Showcase

Great "power swing". I will also add, that the bat sounds like it is well broken in.

    top 12u pitchers ???

gvm, We finished tied for 5th at Cary, NC. We were blessed to have three good pitchers, so my dd never got overworked. She has always been 6" or so taller than everybody else. Her last year of 10u she could hit 52 regularly. As an 11, she stayed at 53 for most of the year, but last year she...

    top 12u pitchers ???

CrazyDad, My daughter may have been one of the pitchers you saw at PONY Nationals. She pitches for the Shamrocks, she turned 13 in June and is 5'9", She has probably gotten about as tall as she is going to get. She has hit 61 once or twice in practice, but most of the time her fastball is in...

Shoulder Pain in Non Pitiching Arm

This happened to my daughter after I baught her a heavier glove to use. She went to a lighter (and cheaper) glove, and the pain went away.

    Never throw to 3rd?

With runners on 2nd and 3rd, less than two outs, my 3rd baseman will be playing up for the bunt pretty hard. I'd rather have my 2nd baseman try for the tag double play or go to second for a surer out. Alot has to do with inning and score.

    Cut off to home plate

I've been a baseball guy my whole life and this is how we've always covered the left side with the 90 ft. base paths. My experience with fastpitch is that is tough deciding whether a play is going to be made at third or home on a gapper. SS is usually in shallow LF for cutoff to third base.

    Cut off to home plate

Interesting point, and one that may deserve its own thread: Do we really need a backup to home and third for OF throws? If the answer is NO, then I have no problem leaving my pitcher in the middle of the field to be cutoff.

    Cut off to home plate

Can anyone see a potential problem with having the 1B cut off all throws to home? I've tried it, and the 1B has no problem getting over to the third base side of the circle. The Pitcher is free to back up between 3rd base and home wherever she is needed. Right fielder will sneak in behind any...

    the real deal

Tori threw for the Jersey Intensity this past weekend down in Florida. You can catch her throw the last inning and a half on ESPN3 Replays, against the Atlanta Vipers. Central Florida's coach was covering the game. He just kept saying, "This girl throws HARD", "Her riseball is dirty". Just...

    the real deal

I was fortunate enough to catch an inning of work from this pitcher a month ago. Two things that stood out to me 1) Her arms appeared to be disproportionately longer than the rest of her body. 2) Incredible arm speed.

Visiting Pitcher at practice for batting practice

OK, I'll say it out loud. Shouldn't a college caliber pitcher be able to throw BP without hitting batters?

How many pitches should a 10u throw in one day?

My daughter is big for her age and athletic. Last year at 10u, we would throw her a game and a half on Saturday, and two games on Sunday. She never got soar, and really seemed like she was throwing her best in her last game on Sunday. I would never try three in one day at 10u, although I have...

    Help with stepping out

My buddy invented this device. It's really good for tee work. WHO IS USING THE BASEBALLANCE? This will give them instatn feedback.

Value of a BIGGER Second Baseman

We always think about putting our bigger girls at first base, because they are bigger targets and can stretch for throws. I totally agree, but feel we should think about the size of our second baseman for the same reason. Too often we put our smaller infielders at second, thinking they are...

    Shamrocks 14U Pitcher

I totally agree MrGreen. Alot can be learned by watching this girl in slow motion. What I see is a desire to throw hard. She gets everything out of her body. The movement to the plate is very aggressive. Muscles in her arms and back are noticably toned. I do see some IR going on for sure...

    Shamrocks 14U Pitcher

I found some action shots in the 2009 Shamrocks archive. Scrool down to 2009 tournament pictures. I think a few of our questions can be answered. http://www.shamrocksoftball.org/14/2009.html First Responders Cup has two pics of her throwing and Oktoberfest has a sequence of her throwing.

    IR Pitching Instructors

Anyone know of an IR guru around Virginia? I'm sold on IR. I don't think I could take my dd to someone who isn't.
