I built this batting gage with the intent to have the ability to raise the net up on the left side so that a pitcher could pitch into the cage. That's why I did not add a third support pole on the left side. My daughter is a catcher and occasionally gets asked to catch for one of our pitchers...
Of all the electronics I bring to the field, the hotspot is always the first to be impacted by heat. Most of the time, it's because I inadvertently left it exposed to direct sunlight. Here's how I keep it cool. Using rubber wire wraps, I attach it to a my portable fan. The fan can be placed on...
I have streamed hundreds of games over the last 3+ years. I've used Gopros, tablets, phones and Mevos. After much trial and error and even more $$, here's what I use with greater than 95% success.
- Verizon Mifi 8800L hotspot
- Verizon prepaid 100GB plan for $55/month
- Mevo Start
- Netgear...
This was a Covid 2020 project. 6x6 posts. 3 on one side 2 on the other. The intent was to lift one side up to allow a pitcher to pitch from 43 feet. The net is 12x12x35 from Batting Cages Inc. I have 3 steel cables connected to hand cranks so I can drop the net if needed. Had to drop it a couple...
This holds my Mevo without issue:
However, my suggestion is to embrace the net rather than fight it. Trying to keep the net out of the frame and the camera from focussing on the net seems to be a futile effort. If possible, I'd get a 10'-13' light stand, set the camera on the light stand as...
Here's an example of the Pocket Radar Smart Coach. I've turned sound off, but the system can broadcast the speed if you wanted to.

What area of Raleigh are you in? I'm in Holly Springs.
We're an 18U team and have been using these balls for pregame warm-ups for years. For us, they do end up needing to be replaced after about 2 years due to normal wear and tear. We have a special metal heavy ball bat that the girls use for this station. Once they get old enough and can swing hard...
I usually go into the manual over ride settings and adjust the count.
Or, give the batter credit for the at bat accordingly, then add a courtesy runner for the batter if someone is placed on base and then skip back to the same batter. (I believe that's how I have done it, not 100% sure)
For Showcase games, I rarely use the opponents rosters. In fact, most showcases, providing a roster/lineup is optional. It becomes very difficult to keep track of if they're allowing a batter to hit instead of walk or to take a base for getting hit by pitch and all of the subs that come in and out.
Yes, I use both at the same time, but only use one device. I have an iPad air with GC open. I then open a Safari/web brower window and float it on top of GC. I also have a old Pixel phone that I use to monitor the video feed.
I use SidelineHD's scoring system. It's ridiculously easy. I had to train another mom last weekend to score for this upcoming weekend as I won't be able to attend the games. She was a pro by the 2nd inning. We use GC still for stats which means we have to use SidelineSCORE and GC at the same...
For balls and strikes I'm VERY neutral and call it the way the ump calls it. My call will be something like, "Ball 1, outside/inside/low/high", or "Strike 2, inside corner". I don't do much color commentary at all. I'm not cool enough for that ;-). Occasionally I'll let the "fan" come out, but...
