    Knuckle changeup

I'll never forget at the Rick Pauly clinic when he asked who throws a knuckle change or a flip change. After the girls raised their hands (including DD who threw a knuckle change) he said they don't get dinner tonight. It was extremely effective at 10U and early 12u. Now at 14U not so much. Good...

ever seen hard of this happening

I saw this happen at state tournament. Very hot and HP got very sick. No problem. Tough on pitchers to learn a new strike zone but safety first. That includes everyone including umps. Haven't watched it as described in the OP.

    HE coach willing to adapt?

DJ I believe what you are explaining is what happens. I think the hips fire back too soon and the arm is too far behind her back. Either she thows way inside or its obvious that she swings around her hip as I can see the separation and throws way outside. This has never been a problem until her...

    HE coach willing to adapt?

This is exactly what is happening. It's almost as if she is intentionally moving her arm behind her to create the brush and not letting it occur naturally with a proper arm circle and body position. In fact during 9:00 drills not only can I see the ball but most of her forearm behind her back...

    HE coach willing to adapt?

Yeah I'm amazed how much she has grown. Other than the loss of body control it's been great. Basketball has been good so far. Lol.

    HE coach willing to adapt?

DW found a new PC for DD. We are very limited in a rural area so I was willing to give it a try. Within the first 5 minutes I knew she was HE and considered walking out. However she asked why DD released the way she did. After explaining the concept she agreed with it and has not tried to change...

    What to do?

Thanks for the input. I did speak with both the TD and the UIC the next day. Both stated that there was really nothing that could be done but the UIC acknowledged that the issue had been brought up by numerous teams and they would allow a shift in foot position including allowing the non drive...

    K-tape question

Just to clarify it is not pain. If it was I would and have shut her down. She explains it as a tightness. Not sure what causes it but still throws hard with or without. Maybe she just thinks it's cool. Idk.

    What to do?

Playing the 5th game at 14u ASA on the same field. DD pitched well the first inning but came back and said she was dragging across something metal. It was tearing the toe off her cleats. I asked field ump to look at it and found that the 40' tubes had no plugs. Ump says there is nothing that can...

    K-tape question

DD was questioned in two consecutive games for having k-tape on her pitching arm. She only wears it because it helps with forearm strain throwing the curve. It was two different sets of umpires and neither really knew if it was legal. It was black and matched uniforms. I argued that it was only...

    For Sale RevFire Pitching System

Wow. Wish I would have saw this earlier. That's a great deal. I have looking for one priced reasonably for years.

Matty Moss called for IP (tennessee vs alabama)

Yeah Carlson was way outside the pitching lane all game long. The game had just started and I hear my 12 yo DD hollering from the other room "that's illegal" so I had to come see what she was talking about. Sure enough. Not the first time I have watched her pitch and do it this year. Strange a...

    Illegal pitch and TV commentators

I did in fact ask Amanda her thoughts on the IP epidemic going on in college softball and why they weren't being called for it on her Facebook page in response to one of her posts about the Florida pitching staff a couple weeks ago. That day Gourley pitched so I couldn't point her out as imo she...

12u pitcher transitioning to IR - seeking advice

She definitely gets on top of the ball at 9:00. Then tries to recover and gets the ball roughly facing 3rd base just prior to the release phase. My recommendation would be start with Boardmember's lock it in, then 9:00, liberty, etc from the IR in the classroom thread. Start with lock it in and...

    What age group is DD?

    2nd year 12U eligible playing 14U.

DD's back flip change vs fast ball mechanics

I would agree with CoachBroker. I don't see any drive off the rubber just stepping. The drive foot has no separation from the rubber until the stride foot lands near 9:00. A good drive will have separation near 3:00.

    Mississippi State Pitcher 2017 season

What is frustrating to me is DD is a pure strider and in the past if her drag foot slightly came off the ground and I would agree it occasionally did but we've since fixed that issue, I've had umpires ask me to warn her about. All the while facing a double plant and re-drive pitcher and it's...

My 14U daughter and her lack of drag foot. Help!

Certainly no expert but this looks very similar to DD early last year. Ignoring the step back it appears she is prematurely and forcing the hips open from which there is no recovery and stays completely open rather than getting the hips back to 45 degrees allowing for good brush and proper drag...

    When did you know 2.0

Funny you should ask this question now. I just learned the hard way yesterday. Don't get me wrong I've taken many off the shins but due to the unseasonably warm weather were in the Midwest we got some outdoor practice rather than indoor this time of the year. As usual to keep things fun we work...

    How TALL is your pitcher?

12 yo 5'5" about 100 soaking wet. Was only 5' even this time last year and through the spring.
