"Formula is in collision and conservation of momentum equation. The parameter e varies strongly with where you hit the ball on the bat hence, as we all know, barreling up the ball is the most important factor. The numbers they give for e are for a ball hit on the "sweet spot."

"Anywhere else and you lose energy due to bat vibration..eg what makes your hands sting when you get blown up."

Ask, and you shall receive.

I really think this is the mic drop phrase right here.

When Matt Lisle was at SC he chased exit velo (as a development tool?) but I think he said something like 64 mph exit at 26* was over the fence at most places they played.

I am seeing very “normal” size hitters hit the ball over scoreboards this year. They are swinging very normal bats. If a college hitter who has been working out every day under supervision, waaaaaaaaay stronger than youth players, and is swinging run of the mill -10’s why in the world would we put a heavier bat in the hands of a youth player? isn’t every ounce (and maybe inch) a head wind to barreled up balls?

So instead of a new bat, maybe the money is better spent on finding ways to barrel more balls and have more consistent launch angle consistency? Does a longer or heavier bat help that?

Until they start giving out extra runs for longer and heavier bats, girls should just swing what feels comfortable. A lot of this sounds like dad egos wanting their daughter to go with a 34-24 like the college girls.

That's a great point. I am helping my daughter coach a really bad 10U rec ball team. In our league games, I was shocked at how many girls I saw swinging the 2024 Ghost Advanced. They couldn't swing the bat, but they sure looked cool trying to do so. Their parents would have been better served using those funds to pay for lessons instead.

One of my customers just asked me about a 33-25 for his MS daughter. One other guy called me looking for a 33-23 GA for his nine-year-old daughter. He assured me she was a big kid and could handle it, but he was moving her up from a 30-19. Right...

Even better: A screen to sit behind, a folding chair and balls to flip to their kid!

“Hit it hard”. ”Hit it far”. “Good job kid!”

I never played organized ball, have no credentials and really helped my kids. Parents shouldn’t be intimidated by their lack of knowing anything, I didn’t let that stop me lol

I always said that if your kid is playing travel ball and don't own a bucket of balls, a tee, and a bownet you are wasting your money. As far as information/knowledge goes Antonelli Baseball was founded in 2009 by Matt Antonelli, 1st round pick and former MLB Player and Division 1 college coach, to provide the absolute best coaching available to both baseball and softball players around the country. We've established the premier site for all players, coaches, parents, and fans of the game of baseball. We are dedicated to helping every player reach his or her full potential by teaching every aspect of the game. This guy has tons of free information.
