Need help with situation that arose recently!!

DD received multiple verbal and written (email) that an offer was forthcoming in December as wanted to get through the NLI process in November. To give some history, DD has mainly been emailing head coach over past two years and has attended every camp they offered. We just found out the head coach is no longer at the university and has been replaced with an assistant coach.

How should we proceed with the new coach? The only documentation about the pending offer was direct emails between head coach and DD.

Sorry to hear about that. Changing coaches are the most stressful thing about the recruiting process once you're committed or on the verge of an offer.

If it's the former head coach's assistant, then I would imagine that the assistant coach (new head coach) was aware of your DD's status as a recruit. Of course, that doesn't oblige the new coach to follow through with that offer.

But to answer your question, call/contact the new coach and ask. Contract the former head coach and ask.

But that seems pretty obvious. So are you asking what should you say, or expect?

Contact the new coach ASAP, and unless you have the same warm fuzzy as before you need to restart your recruiting efforts immediately. Assume nothing as time is of the essence.

Yeah, not sure how to approach new coach. Most of correspondence has been directly with head coach and at times copied an assistant. Just looking for suggestions on what to say....don't want to be too pushy but also would like to know if DD is still on their list.

Was going to give it a couple days hoping that they might reach out to us. Fortunately, we haven't stopped the recruiting process since no formal offer. DD was really bummed out since that school was one of her top picks.

Going to go out on limb here and submit that most coaches would appreciate someone that shows initiative to make things happen versus waiting for things to happen. I would have her contact the coach immediately, congratulate them and ask where she stands. Even if she does not get an immediate answer they are thinking about her.

I'd be thinking he was getting better job, and your going with him... Good Luck

Really .... I would be thinking the only reason the Coach left was because he knew he had to do better for my DD... that's just my way of thinking. I dn't like the Parent Brag Post... I'd rather to just pop-in a thread and blast a Brag... LOL

To be honest... One night around 8:30pm when DD was 8 1/2ys. old, we were @ the YMCA. 8:30 to 9pm no one was ever in family center so we would walk over... DD would rollerblade. I had her pitching me a hockey puck on her roller blades. I wanted to keep the legs out of the spin then... (don't ask)

A guy comes down from the balcony, and ask what the h*ll we were doing...I said don't pay any attention, we are softball nuts. He says so am I, and I want her on my team... I said what team ? He told me & I said she'll never be on a team that has snakes or skulls logo. He said what team do you want her on...of course I said the best Org in the Capital City. He said I can do that...asked for my #... I said send me a friend request on FB. (Was thinking he might be one of the jerk-offs on here LOL) He did. DD was playing rec. He had his DD throw with mine about 15 min. & left

Year & half later he HMU and said their tryout was in a month. I went to Org. Site, and no 10U or him on the site. I got back, told him when I see you on the site, She'll come to try out. He said it was supposed to posted that day... 2 days later it was. Org didn't have a 10u team ever... he convinced them to start one, and they had to build whole new page.

2 weeks before tryout, I had DD doing 2adays.... and got her into to see Best hitting Coach (BB & Fastpitch) in our area, because she never was on a pitching machine. We showed up, and this guys stood behind the back stop... not involved in no station, no nothing. Six big ugly Coaches were doing everything... filled out paperwork. Then the guy comes up to me with an other girl, ( not his DD) and told DD to go get in line, and throw together. 2 lines of 15. In the 2 Days, there was 140 players showed up.

DD goes to first station, Tee hitting. The guy doing it tells her she would be wearing purple @ tryout tomorrow... scared DD she came running over, and told me he said that. Turns out He was the Orgs. Catching Coach...

Long story short... He got to Coach the team...but not pick the players. He had to invite 2 players... but had no say, and they put the Asst. from hell on the team. DD and the other girl made the team... They were also the only 2 that could hit the balls off the machine because they had it set way too fast.

Patience.... This story is the only Patience Story I got.... because I didn't know what was going on.... If I would have, I would have been bugging the H*ll out of everyone !!!

Since your DD likes the school, I would email the head coach and copy any assistant coaches to get everybody up to speed, make sure they all have same information. Maybe forward any email correspondence from previous coach for reference. Sounds like your family has a lot of time associated with this program so think its crucial to have new coaching staff know you are still interested. As for previous head coach, I would also reach out to him as well. Good luck.
