I am so excited for a good friend of mine. His DD played with my girls for several years and she is a very good ballplayer. She decided to go to a big name D1 school that did not recruit her because that is where she wanted to go to school. She went to the open tryout and is on the team! That is so awesome! They miss some really good girls during the recruiting process.

Congrats to them!

Question => How did they tell the girl she was officially "On the team"?

DD is in same situation but continually gets told "we haven't decided yet". She still works out with the team and everything (making relationships etc) - just doesn't know her final status which was supposed to be decided upon for over 2 weeks now. The longer this goes on the more confident I want to be but in life "nothing is sure until it's sure".....

Any reason why the team might be dragging this out? Just a test? Other reasons?

In the meantime DD is being a "pro" about it. Nose to the grind-stone, taking this all in stride, giving it all she's got. Soaking up the big SEC experience.

I didn't ask many questions so I don't know any other answers. He is not bugging her with 100 questions either. He is working on the whole "she is in college and an adult" thing so he is trying not to be too nosy. What he did say sounded similar to your DD's situation in that she got invited to practice after the tryout and worked out with the team for awhile. Good luck to your DD RubberBiscuit, it sounds like she is doing well!

Not too shabby coming from what’s pretty much a local MN club team. You’ll never see them on FloSports or in the big nationals, but they’re a very talented team that’s done a terrific job of helping girls fulfill their collegiate dreams. The B1G freshman of the year played with them last season and this latest girl marks the 6th D1 player or commit on this year’s roster. Almost all the other girls are committed or playing at good D2 schools.

55Dad won’t say anything so I’ll congratulate him here on his DD’s commitment to her dream school!

Auburn had a couple of walk-ons playing in the WCWS this year, so never give up on your dreams!

I got some more information from dad. She found out she was on the team because they just straight up told her. The reason it took awhile was that she was not originally recruited by them so they hadn't done all the NCAA clearinghouse stuff to make sure she was eligible. That took some time.

Ahhhhhhh - that makes sense. With DD being a walk-on right now for the first time I totally dropped any thoughts of NCAA eligibility needed tasks. I can definitely see them pushing week to week awaiting some NCAA mail-back or something.

THANKS for that piece of info!!
