Could this end with an offer??

My daughter is going on an unofficial visit at the end of September. The coach wants her to practice with the team, hang out with the girls and attend a class. They will be scrimmaging with another team, so we'll be able to watch them play an actual game.

This is the most attention our daughter has received from a school so far. This is a D2 school that was looking for 2017's, but saw our daughter (2018) pitching during PGF and really liked what they saw.

My husband and I think they will probably make an offer at the end of the visit, but this is all new to us. I'm curious what some of the experts on this board think.

Thank you!

It's so hard to know what will happen in these situations. Yes, she could very well get an offer and that's what eventually happened with my daughter. It took about 45 minutes and the coach walked over and said, "I want to put a number on your daughter's back." Well, that was the happy ending to our recruiting process, but prior to that, it didn't go so well. We were certain that DD was going to get offers while visiting other schools after performing fantastic in front of them. One coach even called her the "Dinger Queen" and she still didn't get an offer. It got to the point that DD was going to give up on her dream to play in college. I'm glad she gave it one more try.
I'm just letting you know our experience... She might get an offer and I really hope she does, but you never know what's going through their head. She just needs to do her thing and good things will happen...eventually:)
Good Luck!

Good post IML, an additional point, I know of several '17s and '18s that have been told their verbal is void. Sucks, but would always be keeping your eyes open, I promise the schools are always looking for what they consider an upgrade.

Thanks, for your input. I'm glad your daughter was able finally find her school. :) This whole process is a grind.

This was our experience as well. Some coaches spoke in general terms of what we could expect and most said to let them know before she commits. She didn't get an actual offer until the school got her transcripts and test scores.

I gave up on trying to guess what coaches were thinking. We had schools with pretty weak softball programs blow her off and others I considered out of her league show great interest.

Right Here For Now
After everything you posted, as a parent, would I expect an offer? You bet. After the recruiting process we went through, not so much. Every coach is different and every one of them has their own ideas about recruiting. It sucks, but it is what it is. DD was invited down for a college visit from a college that wasn't even on our radar. We didnt know anything about it. After the campus tour she was offered. Another college she attended many camps for, invited her for a stay over with the players, gave her the red carpet treatment, etc. etc. And we still havent heard back.

Either that's why they have weak programs or those schools realized she was out of their league...

This process is brutal. I can't wait till it's over. We just heard that the one school that was sending my DD "you are on the top of our list emails" verballed a girl yesterday. Not the same position but still wth?? Lol. We haven't been as aggressive maybe as we should have been this summer (other than emails) but will step up her game in the fall. She's a senior and I feel the clock is ticking louder than ever

If the visit will involve a flight or driving over 400 miles or so then I would ask the coach if an offer will be made(if you really would like to know). It is not at all out of line. You are making the trip on your coin not theirs.

This is good to know. We have a friend that went on an unofficial visit and they made her an offer, but she would only be able to walk on. They flew from the west coast to the east coast, so it wasn't a cheap trip. I would think a coach would tell a player they don't have any money to offer before they make the trip. I'm sure they would have never gone if they knew that ahead of time.
