My DD (2017) was in contact with a D3 school that she loves. A lot of back and forth very positive communications. However her last three emails have been unanswered. The school just finished their run in playoffs about two weeks ago so maybe they are just taking a break? I don't want her to get discourage but she really slowed down on talking to other schools because she was thinking all was good. When should we consider that one off the list?

Don't until she signs her NLI. The coaches keep their options open. Your DD can do the same. If she gets multiple offers, even better.

D3 schools do not participate in the NLI program because they cannot offer athletic scholarships.

Acatchersmom, continue to contact the your dd's schools of interest. Chances are the coaches are on vacation or are getting their ducks in a row for the upcoming TB tournaments.

Thank you all. She will start keeping in better contact with her other favourites. Hopefully the coaches at her first choice are just taking a well deserved vacation. They did very well this year!

If that is the school she wants to attend, why not say "we are in." and then the coach can add you to the roster. DD has a couple of D3 schools she is looking at. Money is the equalizer for her.

Good luck, but until your DD signs her NLI keep her options open and do not put all of her eggs into one basket.

Here's a new twist to our recruiting rollercoaster ....DD was offered full tuition at a D2 school. It's a school she likes but a D3 that she also likes is still grabbing her interest They seem interested and want her to come in Sept. Should she write the d3 coach and ask her intentions ? Walking away from this is going to be tough but it has to feel right Any advice would be helpful!!!

What are the objectives? A softball scholarship, a good softball fit, a good academic fit w/ or w/out softball, or some combination? Which school would she pick if softball wasn't in the picture? Unless there's a deadline on the D2 offer or it's her clear cut first choice, I wouldn't make any decision before visiting the D3. Similar to TB tryouts, it doesn't always make sense to accept the first offer you get when you haven't explored all your options. The only difference this time is that you're making a 4-year commitment! Be patient, collect all the information you need re softball, $, academics, etc., and make a decision only when you are comfortable.

If you do visit the D3, talk to the coach about wanting to include an interview w/ admissions and, if it will be a deciding factor, with the financial aid office so that you can compare apples to apples.
