Heard a rumor this weekend that a senior verballed to a major D1 is pregnant. She has signed her NLI, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Anyone know the how the NCAA handles this? Is her scholarship pulled? Redshirted? Medical hardship?

This is sheer speculation....like all my posts. But my guess is it has to be treated like any other medical situation that prevents her from playing, basically just like an injury. I doubt they can pull a scholarship specifically due to pregnancy without also parting ways with a hefty settlement from the lawsuit that would follow.

And just like that, my joy of winning our first game goes to fear of my DD becoming pregnant before she graduates from college. She is only 7 so this fear will continue to grow and I will go insane at some point.

God have mercy on the poor boy that asks my daughter out for the first time.

Take comfort in the knowledge that young ladies often learn a lot about self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-respect by playing this sport. Those factors, in addition to becoming a strong and powerful badass who knows how to hit stuff really hard with a big stick, may likely result in a young man being FAR more afraid of your DD's wrath than yours...

...as it should be.

You know if it happened to my DD I would be disappointed for the opportunity lost for about a day. Then I would be stoked about a grand baby!! Granted the situation in which it happens makes a difference. One night stand, I'm probably not too happy with her. High school sweetheart and turns up pregnant junior year of college, very much a different situation and backed to being stoked!! As much as we still consider them our babies, they are grown women that make choices and have to live with them.

I know the last girl that had the same situation left her SEC home had her kid and broke a bunch of records at West Georgia. Hope it works out for this kid as well. She is a heck of a softball player.
