Do you think the University of Florida is overrated?

State of Confusion
I admire your enthusiasm and desire to improve. That is a strength. You would probably be surprised at how few of what I would call good players even have that. Many play for the wrong reasons: their family wants them too, because the always have since they were little, they like to socialize, etc. They may be very skilled, and actually enjoy it, but sometimes the drive to take it to the next level isnt there. Occasionally a very good player will just stop playing because this is the case and they finally realized it themselves.

Seems you are new to softball, and not a travel team player. The best thing you could possibly do is get on a travel team that will give you practice, exposure, and coaching year round. Not always possible, I know. But without that you will have to rely on lots of camps and exposure clinics for good instruction and a chance to be noticed. Unfortunately, the coaching at HS usually isnt very good. Even with good coaching the time you are allowed is very limited, and teams are weak by comparison with travel teams.

Your signature says south GA. I know Valdosta State has a winter camp in Dec. Might be local enough to you to attend.

Im not trying to discourage you at all, but you should be aware of reality to plan accordingly. The fact is most all collegiate players have been travel ball players. It is more competitive than HS ball. But, I have also seen a girl that had never played softball before make one of the best travel teams in the country. She had above avg athleticism. Believe it or not, many travel softball players arent really very athletically gifted, they are well trained, a lot are pretty slow. But athleticism, speed, ability(and lack of fear) to make belly-sliding catches, throw from knees, etc can count for a lot.
