My dd never knows what to wear to a college softball camp. Is it too much to wear the school shirt to the camp? Like if she was going to UVA camp; is wearing the UVA tshirt too much if she is a recruit they are looking at?

Heck no! Let them know she wants to go to school there. They are watching so much more than her playing ability.

Absolutely wear the schools shirt. Lets them know she is interest. Never wear anything with another university logo though! My DD was at an Arkansas camp and at the end of the session the assistant coach gave a talk and flat out told the girls it was never a good idea to wear other colleges shirts to their camps and that coaches don't appreciate it especially if those schools are in their conference. It seems like that's a no brainier but you will see it ALL the time. I was always amazed these girls would do that. I know sometimes they put shirts on out if habit and don't think, but it really is important. Good luck!

thanks. she was concerned that she wasn't on the team yet, so maybe she shouldn't wear the school name... yet

We were at a college camp this last weekend. A majority of the girls wore t-shirts with the name and/or logo of the school hosting the camp. Several wore tournament t-shirts, a few wore t-shirts from their TB team, and a smaller number wore their game uniforms of their travel ball teams. None wore shirts from another college.

Someone mentioned before that she might want to wear some piece of clothing that is distinctive, socks, shoes, hat or something. They are not going to know her name but they are going to know the player in the ….

My DD will wear her TB team uniform to the camp, but most of the camps she has been to provide a t-shirt that is color coordinated by graduation year that they require all campers to wear. I would NOT recommend wearing a jersey or team logo of another school.

Many TB teams / orgs have the policy that you wear your TB uniform to college camps.

This is what my dd did and, to be honest, at one camp the HC stopped practice and called attention to her. She stated that my dd wore a complete uniform, looked like a player, had her name on the shirt, and gave her a schedule with tournaments etc. so that the HC could follow her. Then, the HC asked the other girls what they had done to make sure that the HC remembered them. She went one step further and basically got after a few who didn't have pants, didn't have some type of softball shirt on even if T shirt, and didn't supply the coaching staff with a way to remember their name. As a dad, I was both proud and somewhat shocked.

Edited to add:

JAD, I know of the camps where they color code T shirts as well. However, my dd never attended one of those. Most of the camps she went to did the rubber band bracelet.

They see what the parents and family are wearing too. I threw on my Gophers hat when I drove my DD to a camp out of state and didn't think anything of it. For day two I showed up in a new hat from their school and one of the coaches came over and commented that he liked it better than what I had on the day before.

They watched her at a few tournaments and when she verballed the coach said little brother had to get quit wearing his Minnesiota gear. She was kidding of course, but I thought it was interesting they even noticed.
