Jumping in here very late so pardon me if this is any repeat info. Can strength training help......yes.......but. There is a lot to consider. Before she ever picks up a barbell or any implement, she should have a Physical Assessment. It would be more important to get her body movements...
IMO, there are two postures a pitcher should be concerned about. First is the landing posture which I would suggest should be about 8 degrees of spine tilt behind vertical. I don't think there is any value in multiple landing postures. It should be the same for every pitch. The second posture a...
Since this thread got bump up, thought I'd add two cents.
#1 thing enabling a pitcher to get brush is her posture. Without a nice "tall connected posture" the arm moves away from the body.
#2 Posture begins with the Drive off the rubber. Efficient drive mechanics that do not incorporate any...
Like so many on this Forum, the passion for teaching and continuous learning overwhelm me. Can't think of anything better than helping a young lady achieve her dreams.
"spins" can mean several things; Spin rate....how many revolutions per second or per minute, Spin direction...the clock face reading of the direction of the spin, Spin axis....the relative horizontal/vertical position of the axis of rotation, spin efficiency....the degree of perpendicularity of...
Clear cut #1 requirement for high level pitching is posture. (connected upper and lower torso/no ninja). Posture starts in the drive mechanics so work diligently to drive correctly.
Close #2 requirements are Internal Rotation, Arm Whip, & Brush Trigger.
Get these four building blocks correct...
Lots of good tips in this thread. A couple thoughts on the change up:
1. Just about everything you do to get speed off the ball is counter to good mechanics....a big key is to do it so quickly that it is not noticeable
2. To get speed off a ball requires misdirecting energy. That can come in...
Yes, it gives spin rate and spin direction when throwing into a net. There is a minimum distance.....don't exactly remember the distance, but I get great readings from 20 feet into a net.
FYI, like the RevFire, I would not use this ball for speed measurements. But then again, I like speeds...

Very early in this thread I mentioned the efficient Kinematic sequence of the transfer from the opening movement into the closing movement is that the hips transition first and then the shoulders. In an efficient pitch the hips will create a stretching of muscles (and fascia) which will...
Well, it is one of the big Kinematic keys to speed. The separation (hips transition ahead of the shoulders)causes a diagonal stretch of the muscles from the non-throwing hip up to the throwing pectoral area. When those muscles contract (reflex) it causes the shoulder rotation to accelerate and...
After the youtube video of Show completes, it gives an option of viewing a video of Ueno......that is the pitcher who I would suggest trying to emulate from just about every aspect of mechanics.
