Softball Tournament - Questions I need answered

I totally agree with you. As I mentioned above, we played a team that actually dropped out of the league at the beginning of the season because they said they didn't have enough girls to play... then they were in the tournament with their traveling team even though they didn't play 1 game...

Softball Tournament - Questions I need answered

Thanks for the information. I will dig into this at the rec league level and see what I can come up with. I appreciate everybody's response and I am sure this has happened to every team at one point in time.

Softball Tournament - Questions I need answered

I agree with this rule. It was just terrible that our girls worked so hard to do a great job during the short season that we have only to be beaten by a team with different players who practice year round and a team that dropped out of the league.

Softball Tournament - Questions I need answered

Even if the players who play in the tournament are not the same ones who play during the regular season games? Also, what about the team that dropped out of the league entirely? I don't understand how they can drop out and forfeit every game but then show up at the tournament?

Softball Tournament - Questions I need answered

Hello everyone, This past weekend we had our end of the season softball tournament for our rec league teams. My team played a great first game against a team we played earlier in the year and we won. Our second game was against a team we also played previously and won against in our regular...

Repant, fix or let it go.

I tend to agree with others who have posted... If you know she is pitching illegally (whether to cheat or not), you should fix the issue. I understand it's hard and she will have to break that habit and form new muscle memory - but in the end you both will be better for it.

    Rotation Question

I agree - I am new to coaching a team... That's why I am here picking the brains of those who have "been there, done that". :) After practice last night the head coach talked to me about it and asked me what I thought. I thought there would be advantages and disadvantages but I thought I...

    Rotation Question

Usually we play 2 games back to back with 4 to 5 innings a game.

    Rotation Question

Thanks everyone for the replies - please keep them coming. I do agree that switching every inning may not be the best idea after reading all of your responses. We are just trying to allow everyone to experience different areas of the field but it doesn't allow them to settle in to that...

    Rotation Question

Hi everyone, I am the AC for a 14U team. Yesterday the coach and I talked about a rotation schedule for the girls on the team. We have a lot of good players and we don't want to limit them to a base, the outfield, pitching, etc. We are trying to come up with a rotation that will put a player...

I literally turned a win into a loss fior my team

Obbay, as long as your team gave everything they could and left everything on the field, they are winners. A win/loss is just a statistic. Yes, winning is great and we love to win too - but it isn't everything. Maybe at your next practice sit all your players down and tell them how proud you...

    Motivating 16U

That's a very good point and I never thought of it like that. At practice tonight I am going to ask all my players this question. Thanks smallball!

    Disturbing Comment

I understand both sides. I don't think he was trying to accuse you (or anyone for that matter) of anything wrong - he does have a point, he just presented it poorly and could have brought it up to you in a different manner. It was probably the way he presented it that gave you the hurt...

    Coach Interference?

The coach should not be interfering with the ball, period. If is it accidental (or unavoidable) that's different but intentional interfering by a base coach should be called an out - otherwise I could run around the field and distract the opposing team while my girls are up to bat.

    Two Lookback Ruling Questions

I really hate this rule as it has so many interpretations. The more I read about it, the more confusing it becomes. My understanding of the rule was if a runner rounds a base and does not stop on the base itself and the pitcher has the ball in the circle, the runner may stop once and...
