good insight from all here. we are a coach pitch team. I try to keep it pretty balanced but i try to really emphiasise throwing and catching. They get so tired of hearing elbows up, watch youre feet etc.... Try to keep situations fairly simple throw ahead of runner most outs are forces at third...
great advice guys the throwing drills are pretty much exactly how I start every practice. This is rec league, so we get a mix, about 7 of my 11 players have been together for 3 previous seasons so that helps. Love the water bottle idea going to use that one. One thing I do with catching is toss...
Wow there is some really knowedgable folks on here. Coaching 8u this year. Have 7 players returning that I've coached or been assistant for 3 previous years. All started in kindergarten together. Anyways just wondered how you guys lay out practice at this age always trying to learn and see what...
help my dd all of a sudden late on the ball choking up a little seems to help I think it is a mental thing she started out the year fine but the last couple weeks is late on everything I let her try a lighter bat in practice but still late not as late but still down the 1st base line everytime...
As an 8 coach I disagree with this we don't use the softee ball like a 6u team and we've had one victim this year. Poor kid was scared of ball before now she is mortified it was a bloody mess. Happened during warm ups so she missed game. Problem still not fixed if anything worse now shes jumps...

You are right the most important thing is the bonds you make at this level. We are pretty much modified t ball we use a softer ball and the 4 pitches format we just let both teams bat around twice. we do try to get outs (or at least the better coaches emphisis it) We mainly focus on fun and...
woo hoo my first post. we are having the same problem here, we have only one 10 year old whose signed up and no 12s. We have a about 12 each for 8u and 6u teams. Spring soccer and travel ball are killing us. I've just got involved with softball we started a 6u program last yearand it was awesome...
