That format seems a lot more common in baseball (where teams don't make bracket play), but even for baseball this one seems a little too aggressive in eliminating teams.
Thanks for the good start. We'll work on the load and sequencing first and post a better follow up video when we make some progress.
PS...guilty as charged with pumping pitches at her too fast. 30 minute cage rental....
I know there is work to be done here, but what should we be focusing on going into the Fall Season? I appreciate in advance any insight anyone can provide.
I always wondering if this would be considered legal or not. So at what point would the arm have to stop to make this legal? Is the rule that the arm cannot make a full circle from the point the ball is released? Or some other measurement?
break up into groups of 4 and have 4 bat, and the other 2 groups in the field. The batters hit off of a tee (or soft toss) and then just play it normal. It's better than live hitting because for the most part the ball is in play constantly.
Thanks to all for the feedback. Doug Romrell also did an offline video breakdown for me that also put the emphasis on drive mechanics. I think that will the first area that we attack and once we improve there, we'll see if that doesn't fix some of the downstream issues.
Again...thanks for...
Hi All, I've been a long-time lurker who has tried to understand the I/R concepts, but I'm still a long way from have total control over it. While her current instructor has no real concept of I/R, she does seem to teach things correctly, and has her on the right path. Having said that, my DD...
I hate to pull the sex card, but the best baseball pitchers have to at least prepare for the possibility that they will be pitching well into their 30's. Unless you're a truly elite softball pitcher, your career is most likely over in your early 20's. The accumulated wear and tear ends a lot...
I think it might be a little more important at 12U because a lot of the girls haven't really developed the confidence in their secondary pitches to throw them when they are behind in the count. If they can stay up in the count, it allows them to throw, or at least have the batter have to...
I bet that other coach was a baseball guy. In fastpitch the short game is much more part of the game through all levels of softball and is something that many players will need to know how to do well as they advance through their playing days. Baseball...not so much.
The advanced metrics around Jeter's last gold glove year were not kind as his range stats were brutal. I don't think it was a matter of effort as much as a matter of ability. As you can see by some of the negative range ratings from his 2010 season, he just didn't get to balls that most...
He did the same for my daughter (well not a 10MPH increase, but the mechanics changes). She was inconsistent with her mechanics before Skip and he didn't let her get away with it...ever. It made a huge difference. He also does a good job of explaining the why behind everything. It's not do...
Maybe start with one of your 10 year old daughters friends who also pitches and offer them free (or discounted) lessons to see how it goes teaching a non-daughter student. The one advantage you have in teaching your own kids is that they can have lessons every day from you if they have the...
