If she wants to play D1 level college ball, especially at a high level, she needs to be playing on an elite team that plays in the top showcases across the country. If she's not at that level and wants to play at a fairly local college make sure she notifies the coaches when and where she will...
What are your daughter's goals? Does she think she wants to play in college or are you simply looking for better competition? If the later you've been given some helpful advise, if a college scholarship is the goal, it gets a WHOLE LOT more complicated.
Old school was taught to remove the mask because the mask moved too much when in action situations and impaired vision. A proper fitting goalie style mask doesn't. For protection, leave it on!
No offense Eric, but that is not a proper stance, runner on or not. She should be up off of the knee savers and bent forward which allows a more athletic stance performance wise as well as giving the umpire a better view of the ball.
For what it's worth, my daughter wears all-stars (small wedge...
Lose the throat guard and tighten up that chest protector around her neck. And yes, teach her to protect that right hand. Runner on, ball fist and tuck thumb, hand behind mitt. No runner, hand behind right leg.
Sadly, all these manufacturers are listening to the wrong people on how to design a great softball catcher's mitt and the girls/parents don't want to take the time to break one in properly or even to learn how to do it. Dd had a Japan made a2000 about 5-6 years ago that was near perfect, imo...
A 12" glove is WAY tooo big for a 6-8 year old! Hell, my DD is 16 and uses a 12" Vinci or A2000 at 3b. 13-14" gloves for infielders is just plain ridiculous IMHO. College coaches are even recommending them for their players and then they can't understand when a BB goes straight through it when...
Botetourt and Moyer are really nice complexes and we've played at them many times. Never heard of the one you mentioned but that's absurd! Can't imagine ASA is privy to this practice?
PGF has taken over as far as college exposure and the most prestige is concerned but the ASA Nationals still afford some very good competition if you don't make it to PGFs. I have noticed there are a number of teams that played in PGF 16s that are also playing ASA in Salem, I assume for the...
Agree, if a college coach ask to see an uncommitted player play at a "showcase", they should play her. The committed player, her college coach and parents should understand that's the way it's supposed to work. I would definitely try and find out what was up with them not playing her in that...
She is still in CA at the PGF Premier Nationals but will return to VA this Friday in time to play in Salem. She has a gun and can throw out anybody....that doesn't leave way early :p She will block anything she can get to, will make your pitcher look great with her receiving and also has a good...
