Changing local rec ball leagues- Whats your experience?

Do you what you think is best. She is only 10 it's not a big deal either way.

    Courtesy runner question

They can do that but now lose the courtesy runner for the P (unless they had another player on the bench). Honestly I think the courtesy runner is nonsense and that softball should go to the DH if you want but until they do what the other team did is legal.

    Interference on pop up

What if you felt the fielder had a reasonable chance to catch the ball but certainly not ordinary effort and they are hit but the BR. Can you just call the runner out and not call the batter out?

    Drop Dead question

I agree with you. Timed games are bad enough but if you at least play an equal number of innings it's a "real" game.

    Interference on pop up

So in this case since the fielder caught it and thus likely a DP both are out? Would it be the same if fielder dropped on getting hit? Appreciate your knowledge on this.

    Earned run question

    It is a fielder choice

    Earned run question

Situation R2 1 out. Routine grounder to SS. Easy play at first would get Batter but she decides do try and get runner who had gotten off 2nd too far. Throws and runner is safe. Easy scoring FC on batter. Next batter K's for 2 outs. The next batter hits a triple 2 runs score. Are they...

    How do you score this?

Except they made no play on the anyone else so it's a hit.

    How do you score this?

That's not really a blanket statement. In the case of a player looking a runner back(not making a play on runner) then trying to get the batter and the batter is safe then it's a hit even though if bases were empty they would have been out. It makes up the FC's that occur when a runner makes...

    How do you score this?

I would like to see someone show the rule but I believe it's a hit if there is no attempt to get someone out. It's similar to a GB to SS with a runner on 3rd that they look the runner back and then the batter beats the throw. That is a hit even though the hitter would have been out had there...

    Looking for Position Responsibilities Diagram

You don't say how old the players are but if they are young the best thing to learn is that you do something when the ball is hit. At first they might backup the wrong base or not cover but at least it gets them moving. The other big thing is that you should go for every ball that's in your...

    Dropped third strike play

There's a big difference between taking a step or 2 and running down the line. I get your point but it doesn't change what I say.

    Just a rant

Even if you don't play multi sports kids should still have multi interests. Learn how to play an instrument or act in a play or join the chess club.

Changeups Work Better When You Call Them

I think that coaches link a bad outcome to a bad decision too often. Someone hits a fastball 250 feet and you think nothing of it, but when you call a CU and someone gets a hit you tend to blame it on a bad call. I see teams that have a ball hit over their head and move the OF back 20 feet...
