I've been compiling a spreadsheet with information potentially relative to the recruiting process. It's basically a list of schools and their respective coaches/contact info along with some other data regarding their programs. It is a work in progress, and it's somewhat directed towards players...
2 parts you have to deal with actually. The crying in the dugout is inexcusable. She needs (as someone previously mentioned) to learn the value of having a short memory. Make sure you continuously reinforce the fact that some games she will be 4 for 4 and others she may go weeks without a hit...
I agree. Also the coach's decision may have been simply to work on a squeeze in that situation. I'm not sure about your team philosophy but it is fall and it's time to work on things not necessarily to win ball games. In addition, it's very easy to judge from the other side of the fence. 99.9%...

If life ends at 8U then I guess you don't need to worry about catching.
As for what to look for next...
IMO I say best athletes. It's 8U, there aren't going to be many seasoned softball players showing up to tryouts. Find athletic girls with great hand/eye coordination and make your own studs...
Marc hit it on the head. Theoretically, girls should be able to get bigger, faster, and stronger without the use of any supplements outside of a multi-vitamin and fish oil/flaxseed. You can supplement your girls' DHA needs with fish oil capsules and the multis are essential. Outside of that...
