My hats off to the Japanese team. Their coach used brilliant strategy to defeat the U.S. team. It reminds me of the U.S. victory over Russia in Men's Hockey during the 1980 Olympics.
It's so hard to beat the same team three games in a row. The U.S. Women's Softball team was a great team with great players. It took a united team effort on the part of Japan with each member playing their role to defeat a superior opponent. What a stellar performance by their pitcher Uena. Three games in 24 hours! Over 400 pitches thrown! Kudos are in order. This may look like something bad for USA Women's Softball in the short run. But in the long run it will have a tremendous impact on the international game. I have no doubt that Softball will return to the Olympics in 2016 and beyond as a result of Japan's victory. Pops |
