I know this pain all too well I coach a 18u and a 12u team. It was really rough the first half a year but eventually me and my other coach were able to spot putting our 18u mentality on top of our 12u and since then not only has the team found its own identity my coach and my self have found our-selfs on a whole new chapter of coaching that is a lot higher and better then we have ever been.

That's cool, Tex. It's definitely a different world isn't it? On the other hand, you have more blank slates, so you can really make a difference in their lives - especially the ones who are not as athletically gifted but just love to play.
