Talk about blowing something out of proportion and completely missing the point.

As I read it, Stick07's comment to state that either a player is competitive at a certain level or s/he is not based on ability. If a player MUST have certain equipment to MAINTAIN playing at a specific level, that player is probably not at that particular level. IOW, a player's ability should be determined by the player's ability to perform, not the equipment.

If you want a true competitive measure of a player, find a league or tournament that supplies the same bats that the player must use. That will level the playing field; True skills will shine and shortcomings exposed.

If a player can't hit the ball, it doesn't matter HOW good the bat is. It can't turn a weak hit into an OTF HR either.

Nor does a great bat help fielding or base running.

A better bat can help a good player perform a little better in one aspect of the game. If she wants to hit well, she still needs quite a few hours of hitting practice.

vdubya's post wasn't a ramble. It was a clear and concise argument against an opinion expressed by another member that many players can only legitimately compete at the highest levels by using these bats.
You found that eight paragraph post to be concise?

I knew I'd get blasted by at least one for that post, and that's ok. I'm not sure how my opinion on grandfathered equipment sorry approved equipment that might exceed the standards some how turned into to this. I'm not sure what pitchers developing a new pitch has to do with equipment. I'm not sure what athletes developing them selves thru hard work in the gym has to do with equipment. I do see what sharpening spikes to intentionally hurt a player has to do with equipment and if that's happening maybe she shouldn't compete. My only point was if that $1000 dollar 8yr old bat that came off eBay is the only way they are making decent distance then it's going to be a rough road ahead. I can't see ls & demarini far behind especially since they are both owned by same company. Unless that purchase didn't go thru.

"Haha, because all slowpitch players are dumb right?"

It was a joke from GM if you didn't catch on, but don't worry, you are shattering
that stereotype with every post...haha

Generally, I agree. However, when my older DD was a freshman in HS, I replaced her Easton Synge 32/20.5 with a Demarini CF6 32/21. The difference in pop was significant and immediate. Her usual pattern of contact resulting in mediocre ground balls, and the occasional hit to the OF grass, became hard ground balls, regular line drives much deeper in the grass, and the occasional shot getting to the fence.
