I work at a body shop and I have painted my girls helmets from batting helmets to catching helmets. Its cheaper to buy one, but if you want to do yourself start by using
1000 to 1500 grit sandpaper wet , just dont sand over noscae certification. Then spray a light coat of primer, let it sit for a day and your good to go.
You dont want to sand all the paint off. What your looking for is a smooth surface to
work with and that were the primer comes in.To remove the sticker glue
they sell this waterbase adhesive remover which you could buy at a automotive paint
store. We use this alot on plastic bumpers.
