What most are forgetting. It all depends on grades and test scores. D1's may be the only choice of a kid that doesn't have the grades for a D2 or D3. Example the D3 my dd was looking at the cut off was 3.3 or a 23. That is just to get in, to get any money you had to have a 3.75 or test score at 26. Some are at 3.5 . So many D3 and D2 are not going to recruit you. These kids must look at state D1.'s they have no other choices.

Wouldn't a JUCO be an option for those girls?

UofAZ. just had 2 girls sign letters of intent, that the newspaper reported that their grade point average is 2.8 and 3.0. I found that to be pretty low.

Not all D2s and D3s are academicly selective. Many D1 State schools are very selective. Every school is different.

Frankly a 26 on the ACT to get academic money is not all that selective.

A girl’s dad who plays on daughter’s summer team advised the other day his daughter went to try out for a team. She had offers from a few other teams 1 D1 school and other D2 and D3 schools. She wants to go to medical school and wants to go to this certain college. She had text the SB coach a few times asking him to come and look at her and never got a reply.

The school has open tryouts and she goes halfway through the tryouts the coach calls her over. He ask, what are you doing here? The coach goes on to tell her that he appreciates her coming, but she is way too good to be playing for the team and advises she needs to be at a much better college team. She advised the kid you have excellent grades, you are a great athlete I don’t understand why you were not recruited by some of the major schools. The kid was stunned and her reply was I don’t know. The coach tells her he has seen enough and wants to look at the other kids more and does not let her participate in the remaining tryout.

Her dad and her are concerned that the coach thinks something is wrong with her is the reason she was there and she may not get selected. The coach did advise that it would be a couple weeks before she lets the kids know.
