The University of North Alabama which won the DII national title last year will be moving to DI for the 2018-2019 school year. They have a great athletic tradition in DII and it is a great school with a beautiful campus. My DD fell in love with the place last summer and it jumped every place on her initial list of schools.

Best part of this as the parent of an athlete is the additional scholarships that can now be awarded so there is more money to share. Its big for sports that can provide partial scholarships and as a whole the school will be able to offer around 60 additional scholarships for all sports.

I heard they were going to D1, but was un-sure when. Several of my DD's HS teammates are very interested, and 2 others in our district are already committed, both 2018. Plus, don't they have live Lions in the middle of the campus? Very cool.

They voted to move up several years ago but the problem has been finding a spot in a football conference. That offer came recently so they made the move. UNA.jpg

It is a beautiful campus and they do have Leo and Una living on campus with a pretty nice enclosure. The day we toured the campus a lady was there sitting with them that had basically raised them since they came to the campus as cubs. She was petting them through the fence and telling us about them.

Atlantic Sun for everything except football. The A-Sun doesn't sponsor football so it has signed a deal with the Big South to let football schools that joing the A-Sun play with them.

SC-Upstate is in the league so there is at least one solid softball program. Kennesaw St also has a decent program.

Sounds great, it will be exciting to see them compete on the next level. I believe they have a camp this weekend a teammate of DD is heading down. We are going to UTC this weekend, hoping for some good news there. :)

DD is going January the 14th. She is a 2021 so we started hitting the camps this past summer. I am keeping this one a surprise until Christmas because I know she will be excited. She absolutely loves the place and if the opportunity came for her to go there as a dad I wouldn't mind her being in a small town and only 2 hours from home.

She got to workout and play in front of them last summer during the Tri-State exposure. Hopefully they still remember her even though they seemed to be looking mostly at older girls and mine was one of the few 2021's there. She had a great showing at the clinic which got her some time talking to them and then tripled twice when she got to play on their field.

Good luck at UTC this weekend. That another place I would like mine to take a look at.
