Part of this bothers me and other parts not so much. Since most of the communication is all way and for the most part our DD's have no way of knowing if the coach even opens any of the emails that are sent. Let's say you send a "glorious intro email" but the coach doesn't even open it, but you assume that they did. So you send number 2, 3, 4 email, by then your one way email correspondence along with a snail mail letter with a profile sheet and maybe even a postcard is sent. BUT what if they by the 3rd email happens to be the first email they actually open and read. At some point you you can't be sending the same "glorious intro" email since it is a one way conversation for the most part until the player is old enough to accept a real email back other than the "come to my camp" email.

Rant starts here: I want to create "An open letter to coaches, how to make the recruiting process more transparent and less stressful by not making us spend stupid money on your camps flying around the country until their senior year so they can take all 5 official visits and I have a better idea of what I is the best fit for me and family...shall I go on"
Rant stops:

I think for the majority of programs this is true but if you are the coach of a big D1 program this is what you tell everyone and preach but you also don't have the option of having a losing season every year. Sure if all things are equal you take the great team player, but lets face it all things are not equal. ..and hey there are always a new crop a young coaches who don't know better and just recruit talent because they have not learned these pearls of wisdom the hard way.

I appreciate the read. There are enough of us on here that we could start our own thread about our experiences during recruitment both pro and con. We could also post what we have observed about those first critical years of college ball.

Please do! Any BTDT advice is welcomed!
