I'm toying with surprising my DD to see the College World Series. Has anyone ever gone? Any advice would be appreciated!

I took DD1 a couple of years ago and it is AWESOME!!!!! We are thinking about going back again this year but much depends on our tournament schedule.

Advice - Buy tickets early and get as close as possible. 1st all the way around to 3rd. Tickets aren't that expensive compared to other sporting events so I would definitely pay up and don't wait. Another trick you can try but you need a little luck is to buy tickets from teams that get eliminated. I remember Oregon was eliminated and guy was selling his tix for the remainder of the tournament on the cheap and they were awesome tickets. I would recommend just buying your own ahead of time so you don't have to be stressed but this is a way to do it as well.
Hotels- Stay downtown OKC. It is a wonderful city with so much to do and has been majorly revitalized over the last several years. It is also very close to Hall of Fame Stadium where the WS is played. Also, go to the Hall of Fame next door while you are there.

The outfield is not the end of the world as we experienced both infield and outfield but you can see so much more in the good seats.

I will try to think of more to add but it is truly a wonderful experience and the hospitality in OKC is terrific!

Pay the $$ and get the tournament parking pass or good chance you be parking on i35 or in the mud. Regardless if they make it or not you will see a ton of SEC fans tailgating, especially LSU and Tennesee, they are great to talk to. If you plan on staying down town or in Bricktown book rooms now. The teams stay in the Renaissance and Sheraton on Broadway and Sheridan downtown. Bricktown is great, there is some much to do now. We live about 7 miles from the stadium and life long okie. If you need any tips for places to eat or things to do I can help point you on the right direction. Hope you make it.

Agree that you should get the parking pass. BUT, Remington Park (Horse Track) is next door and you can easily park there and take the shuttles that run all day/night. There was a bit of a line for the first games of the day but after that not much. We actually walked from Remington on our first day which is a little bit of a hike but tons of people were doing it and it wasn't bad. Took the shuttle the rest of the time.

Save money for the T-Shirts and buy them early as they sell fast!

That is true. If you come in off I35 and do not know the area you may just follow some cars and park east of the stadium and never realize there is parking at Remington. But shuttles to remington is convenient and not a bad walk either. We do some tailgating so I prefer to be closer. You get people stopping, talking and hanging out. Lots of fun either way!

I've been lucky enough to go to OKC three times - the last time for the NFCC 408 class in 2010 when UCLA won it all. If you're an NFCA member, you can always call the NFCA and arrange to get some tickets. The good seats are all either sold to season ticket holders or reserved for the schools that make it. I've tried to get tickets right when they go on sale, and the selection isn't great. However, I have never had a problem picking up tickets when I am there, either from fans whose teams have lost or via CL in OKC. The folks there are fantastic and very hospitable. S3 is right about the T-shirts. The good ones sell out fast. I picked up a dri-fit one early only to see them sell out on the second day. If you see something you like, buy it early.

PS: The NFCA has a "go to" hotel for the 408 class attendees that I've stayed at. They have a good rate and there's always a caravan going out to the ballpark from there. Don't need a car.

PS2: If you tire of ballpark food, try Ingrid's, a German place featured on Diners Drive-Ins & Dives. Loved it!
