Going to be another year of Espn announcers that are not up to speed with dfp newbs on anything softball.

Ok, who is at Georgia, so hitting expert talked about how strange Hugo's stance is and you never see anything like that. OMG get your out of your own ego and learn what most everyone in the fastpitch world already knows.

Then...at Bama...Mendoza talking about the split grip is to create more ground balls. Hey! Get with the program Jess...ya I should respect...but you are making stuff up!!!!
Here is Kretschman... Pretty sure she is not trying to hit ground balls. She is just one of a 100 power hitters that split.

Take a deep breath and just let it go; you can not claim with a straight face that Hugo has an orthodox stance that you see all the time

1. She wiggles the bat more a lot than most
2. Her stance is much more open than most
3. Her stride is higher than most

put that all together and you are not likely to see anything like it...until of course it becomes the "in" thing.

Thanks Bj for telling me what I know. They were talking about her open stance, the one that I see almost at least one in every game we have played in, and the stance that I have discussed a couple dozen time on dfp. Thanks for the advice tho!
Screen shot of dd with split grip and coming in from open stance. Hugo has 0 to do with her hitting plan;

Out of all the ESPN crews I've seen and heard, Amanda Scarborough and Adnan Virk (who had GA v. MI last night) are the only ones who are solid. The others provide so much mis-information about mechanics and even the basic rules of the game that they seem intent on keeping SB in the dark ages. I have to watch with the sound muted to avoid being ejected from my own house.

Funny that you say this, because I don't claim to know anything more about softball than what the people on here have taught me, but I can NOT stand to listen to the announcers they have. Last night, I think it was Oklahoma game... pitcher throws a pitch that doesn't break, in any direction. Batter swings under it by a wide margin. Its thrown about thigh high and announcer calls it a curve ball, but my very untrained eye sure thinks Riseball, just thrown low in zone. Used my DVR to make a slow motion replay of the release, and it sure looks like BACK spin to me. The Producers aren't much better... ever seen a slow motion replay of a blown call by the umpire??? Me either.

Oh my. Now Mizzou Ucla they are talking about the "strange open stance" ...."helps them get the foot down early" "foot down foot down...got to really get that foot down early and be ready to swing, especially against a hard thrower"

You killin me Smalls.

My big gripe is when a girl fouls off 5 pitches and they say "she's fouling off pitches that she doesn't like". Really, it's that simple to foul off pitch after pitch until you get that one you want to hit.
