I just got home so I am not sure what the issue is but that coach is fighting health issues that could kill him (or at a minimum halt his coaching career) and his kids are playing for him because they love him, so that comment is totally disgusting. The man has a family, too.

My guess is that Gronk might be unhappy with the manner in which ULL lost today, and is blaming Coach Lotief.

Did you watch the game?? When a pitcher is so far off that she obviously doesn't want to be in the game and you leave her in there to walk the house. And on top of that not warm anyone up.

Didn't see the game, but her stats say 13 walks, 200+ pitches...ouch....somebody needs to do some explaining...

Not sure about the coach's health issues and I know they have been very good. The games that have been on TV the last few years I thought he did a good job and the girls DO play their butts off for him. BUT, that was the definition of leaving a girl hung out to dry. She has a family too.

Just watching some reply. Yes, I was wondering if he was of sound mind (and I think so much of him). Pitcher should have been pulled MUCH sooner. It was uncomfortably awkward.

Right or wrong I am sure that the coach would accept responsibility for his coaching and would not appreciate you diminishing his role to that of a victim. His health issues are truly unfortunate. However, regardless of his personal situation and the emotions of his team he is still expected to demonstrate a high level of coaching competence. In this particular game his coaching was an epic failure.

Just now saw some clips and read the full account... and I'm so confused and conflicted. I really like and respect coach Lotief (remember when he fought for his assistant coaches a couple of years ago and even resigned briefly in protest?), but overuse of pitchers is one of my biggest pet peeves. Wow. Just wow. He gets the Rachel Lawson award this year. Hope he has a better day tomorrow.

I am very confident that he was trying to let his pitcher know that he had faith in her but did not recognize that she was spent. She had buried herself in 4 other innings and dug herself out each time.

Calling for his head is wrong, he has done so much good for that program. It was painful to watch but he has earned the right to make bad decisions here and there.
