Dunno. Terrible, though. We have a home-grown girl on that team. My DD friends with and attends the same school as the Cardinal player's younger brother. She's a soph I think, and stayed on the team. I'll see them play the Arizona Wildcats in Tucson this weekend. Must've been something pretty bad.

The article mentioned that they were recently benched, but did not give a reason....Discipline? Poor performance?

Off topic but if they are scholarship players, how does that affect the scholarship?
The coach of our local 12U travel team in our org has a DD on that team, if I run into him I'll ask if he knows anything.

As seniors, assuming they're on time, I don't think the scholarship would be that big a deal anymore. Maybe they'll be compelled to repay some portion of it.

New HC from Dartmouth...trying to install a new culture maybe...hard to do with no pitching...but pretty freaking gutless to quit with 10 games left...JMO...

According to a post on UCS (See Players Dismissed ?) and echoed by others...

Point 4 - The players chose to quietly not shake Coach Mike White's hand after game 1. He chose to yell and scream at them in front of their home crowd. He demanded they be benched. Coach Hanson acquiesced to that instead of defending her players. This was her opportunity to stand up for her players and her program. It's pretty difficult to continue playing for a coach who sides with the person responsible for destroying your senior year of softball. I don't care what sport you play or where you work, if your leader doesn't have your back, it's very difficult to continue on. The toxic environment was created by players and parents

Their refusal to shake hands was linked to a sexual harassment investigation where a couple of trainers were let go and possibly contributed to the head coach's departure.

Heartbreaking all around . . . so ironic, the game of softball itself promotes the growth of little girls into smart, strong, independent women. Why would anyone in their right mind be surprised when they step up and show it?
