What is your daughters favorite softball camp held at colleges? Or anywhere, really. My daughter has attended 2 so far and really enjoyed them, going to another one in a few weeks. We live in the south but can travel if it is a really good one.

My DD has been to a few the past several years. One in particular stood out to me...Higher Ground Softball camps/clinics. My DD learned so much over those two days and the clinic we attended allowed her to choose what she wanted to work on. There were sessions for outfield, infield, pitching, base running, slapping, bunting, hitting, etc. I think my DD did two sessions of outfield, one on base running, and one on pitching. At the end they split the girls up into teams and played several games. (each batter came to plate with 2 and 2 count). I was really impressed with the quality of the teaching and the individuals that were brought in to teach the various sessions. The base running session was excellent....I cannot remember her name, but it was a former USA olympic team member. The pitching session my DD attended was taught by Rachele Fico, former LSU pitcher.

Great camp/clinic...great instruction...not very expensive..I think 2 days were about $175.00.

U of TN camps are great, they bring in college & private coaches from all over, all coach instruction, very well run ! The summer camps are hot but my girls have gotten the most from them over Christmas camp, which is just huge !!! So far we haven't found any other collegiate camps that offer as much instruction & exposure.

Dd has attended the Riseball High Achievers camp which she enjoyed and I thought was well run, instructional and had a large number of coaches at. Dd worked with head coaches from Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Georgetown and Cornell. Left lots of colleges off the list. A little pricey at 375 but great to be with that many coaches at once.

Northwest
Fastpitch NW was a great camp that was well run with great fields and over 40 college coaches in attendance. My DD especially liked it because unlike other showcase camps/tournaments, there were no teams. Individuals were placed on teams by graduating year and played with players all over the NW including British Columbia and Hawaii.

Most of the Higher Ground Camps are not recruiting camps. However, they offer very good instruction. Most of the college camps are lacking in respect to instruction as they are in reality showcase events. But if you want real, no BS instruction Higher Ground is very hard to beat.

Anyone have experience with UGA clinics, its DD DREAM team so I thought I would surprise her with attending one of the winter clinics.

We had a good experience at the D9 camp in Vero Beach, FL last December. DD had a cracked rib, so she did not pitch as well as I would have liked, but she got a lot of 1-on-1 time with college coaches. This is kind of a showcase/clinic so you get a little of both. She also met the head coach for the 16U NJ Intensity and was invited to guest play with them. We ended up playing with the NJI in Colorado at the Independence showcase after participating in the OnDeck skills clinic, and both opened a lot of recruiting opportunities for my DD - included the one where she eventually verballed.

I would highly encourage attending the clinics of any school that is in your DD's Top 10. Getting to know and interacting with the coaching staff is an invaluable tool when it comes time to make a decision.
