Cancer Awareness Fundraiser

I'm curious if any coach(es) here have had any success hosting or running a fundraiser involving some form of cancer awareness for their TB team(s). I am thinking of doing a fundraiser next season for my 16U summer ball team where the proceeds would go to breast cancer awareness. Many HS teams do something similar to this for volleyball and/or field hockey, but I do not see many do this for softball.

Is there anything specific that should be noted before doing something like this? As well as what fundraisers have been the most successful at raising the most funds/awareness for your team(s)?

(Full disclosure, our team is not a registered not-for-profit team/organization and we do not promote ourselves as such. All money taken in is used for team-related purposes and are treated as advertising expenses for area businesses.)

You are going to do a fundraiser for cancer (I lost two sisters to ovarian cancer) and then skim some money off the top for your team?

Negative. I must not have caught that after I submitted and I was discussing another fundraiser idea with my AC through FB at the same time. The proceeds for THIS would go to cancer research (the proceeds from our other fundraisers would go to the team of course). My error.
