Watching the Indians bat a pitcher in a National League park last night as well as the Cub's Kyle Schwarber have to sit because of injury (while hitting big in DH role earlier) made me think wouldn't it be really interesting to get rid of DH in American League and put fast-pitch rules in both leagues?

DP/Flex
Re-Enter Rule for Every Spot in Lineup
Run for Pitcher (well I guess they wouldn't be batting necessarily) and Catcher Off The Bench

It would add a TON of strategy and use of the full roster, change pitching rotations (start AND relief) and get players OFF the field without skills (ie, hitting pitchers and running catchers).

I think it would be a blast to watch an MLB manager use the rules and even more fun to second guess them.

It would definitely be interesting! And they also need to speed up the game big time ... all of these visits to the mound by the catchers, especially by Contreras of the Cubs, are ridiculous.

I personally like the extra strategy that the pitchers batting add to the National League. Do you let your pitcher bat with bases loaded or do you bring in a pinch hitter and go to the bullpen? It is easy to have a DH who just bats and does not have to play defense...

Getting one re-entry though would be interesting. If you had two outs and bases empty you let your pitcher hit, if there are runners on no outs DH is in and then you can put your pitcher back in to pitch, basically gives you a DH but probably still in the 9 hole and only once you could probably get through 5 or 6 innings with your pitcher only hitting once.

Puts a lot of emphasis on strategy while also reducing the number of times pitchers hit.

This thread crossed my mind last night during the Cubs game. This would have added even more intrigue to that game.
