REC level brag

This past weekend, we had evaluations before the draft tonight. Last season, I had a girl that was rated 70 out of 71 players. She stopped in the middle of the evaluation (last season) because catching the ball felt a little uncomfortable. She pranced to the bases. She didn't want dirt on her hands or anywhere near her for that matter. I worked with her all season and she slowly, but surely got better and better. I encouraged her to keep up the hard work during the summer and she just might surprise herself for the fall. Man, did she ever. She went from 70 out of 71 to 27 out of 70. She was highly sought after in the draft tonight and I had to deal with deep disappointment from a kid who wanted me to draft her. For that moment....that split moment, I felt like a coach who knew a little something and contributed to the constructive development of a dirt lover.

That's a great brag my man. Dudes like you are what make little girls fall in love with softball and find all the good in competitive sports.

You're doing it right!! There are few things better in this game than helping a young player find her love of the game. This is true at EVERY level of the game.
