We have our rec league Allstar game Thursday night, small 4 team league composed of top 6 girls from each team. We found out at practice that "coaches will be umpires" with not much other detail. Has anyone been in this situation before? What would be the best way to keep things fair and balanced? I am mostly concerned with behind the plate ump. Best to switch up coaches behind the plate after 3 innings? I would happily umpire the whole game without bias. Of course this is supposed to be all about having fun as always, but Im already getting the vibe from HC that shes in it to win it. Is it something I should avoid? I feel like parents may be more apt to argue calls if the ump is actually a coach from the "other team". Appreciate any input thanks ladies n gents.

If parents are going to take an IN HOUSE 10U All Star game that seriously there is not much you can do.

Just as long as both coaches agree up front before the game on how to make it work there should not be any complaining

When we used to have to umpire our own fall little league, to keep it fair we called our own batters. We didnt get behind the plate, every half inning the coach calling balls and strikes would swap out and call their own batters from behind the pitcher. Mostly because none of us had any plate equipment.

Thanks for the input, turns out a coach had DD and stepdaughter on each team so he worked the plate all game, did a great job. We won it 10-0 and had a great time, ended season on a high note & met alot if good people we will be facing next year. Thanks again!
