Re-read my posts, I do not see me criticizing coaches too much.

It is the dads trying to fill the void I have an issue with.

And yes I have an Issue with trying to change a player to much before a game. That is what practice is for. If you want to reinforce so,etching you worked on in practice great, do not tell DD she cannot hit unless she takes a step right before and during the game.

So you are mad that the coach is trying to coach your daughter? Who cares if it's before the game during the game or after the game?

Last time I checked Rec coaches aren't getting paid. Rule #1 is never criticize a volunteer coach.

Yea but Rule #2 is don't let someone that doesn't know what they are doing try to "fix" it

Coach - PLEASE tell me this was sarcasm...

Not sure what level we are talking about but have to assume it's younger girls.

You fix her swing because you are trying to improve her, because the best 10U player will probably not be the best 14U play or the best HS player.
That doesn't mean you try to fix it on game day - but that is what practice is for.

If the coaches can't coach and your sure he doesn't know what he's talking about - then take it with a grain of salt have your dd say "Thank you, I'll try" and just move along
But just because a kid can hit 10U pitching with a bad swing doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed.

At the 14U and 16U level the hardest girls to work with are the ones that have always been successful with bad habits - The big strong girls who could all throw and hit with BAD mechanics - They get to 14U and girls who were smaller and weaker start blowing by them because they were forced to work on their weaknesses and got better.

Nope, 18A.... Two things go into "fixing" a swing. One it should be done during the off season, trying to change a swing mid-season doesn't do anyone any good. And two, the kid has to want to change. I have made suggestions to her, but so far no implementation. Anyway, to me it looks horrible, to her it works so who am I to try and change her when the bottom line she is hitting over .400 and producing?

Yea at that stage the die is cast - If you watch the college game you see a LOT of bad mechanics - At 10U~12U - you want to get that stuff fixed but by 14U or 16U your mostly done they are what they are

Normally I agree but correct me if I'm wrong here...Isn't your DD the one who missed all the practices before the season started?
